Typical slutty Charlotte palette (oak, butter, stone fruit) but such a lush, pleasant mouthful, respectable acid and minerality to balance it out that it gets my respect. Nice floral component on the nose, too. #chuggable
Cute story to match - couple from east coast had a nursery for years, loved wine and decided to move West to combine their passions. — 10 years ago
perhaps a bit past it's prime but still enjoyable for $10. Mellow Yellow color, meaty body, stone fruit, floral note, touch off dry. — 8 years ago
big fan of their entry level Juan Gil Monastrell which is why this was such a disappointment. Falls flat, big time :-/ — 10 years ago
"Hip Hop Eponymous"
full bodied, inky, lingering fine grained tannins. Smokey, dark fruit, lavender. craves grilled meat drippings. — 10 years ago
Great alternative to our PN btg - light bodied with evidence of earth and fruit forward mid palate. Great for the price point. — 9 years ago
Absolutely delicious! Full body, complex, balanced, heavy hitter will sneak up and knock you on your ass (silly smooth 16%). Open/decant at breakfast to enjoy at dinner. Pairs well with parmesan reggiano and balsamic redux. — 10 years ago
Rhone god, Chapultier's little Aussie side piece. Far more subtle than little sister Mathilda, Shays Flat has notes of stewed blueberry-blackberry pie filling, baking spices to match the crust, smoke, inky, tapered finish. — 10 years ago
Fletcher Elkins
Fantastic patio pounder! Supple, satiny mouthfeel, baby touch of acidity. Touch of carmelized pear and almond. — 5 years ago
