Dinner on the deck. Hamburgers with avocado and cheese and onion rings. Opens with dark fruit lingers with lavender and leather. Great for outdoors and has been reliable for indoor fall meals (but we aren't there yet!). — 11 years ago

Dinner at 6Smith, the re-opened boat-up space in Wayzata (fka North Coast). A different approach to chardonnay - more like Rombauer in its intense creaminess. Oakey and creamy at the same time. Hard to do well, but this Argentinian pulls it off. However, this is a not a taste that pairs well with the food a 6Smith. Competes with the American spices to become a little bitter. Not the wine’s fault though. — 11 years ago
Commanderie is, as the label says, "the benchmark producer" or Provençal roses. This is very fruity-hinty but becomes that flinty dry taste we look for in the wines of Provence. Note that this 2014 vintage. Drink in the first year or two of release or you miss the party in a glass. Tastes like Summer. — 11 years ago
