Tasted alongside the 82. This 1983 was deeper and richer than the 82. Both wines were chilled and warmed in the glass as we held them. Notes of old leather and sweet tobacco and cherry. Dark fruit on the palate with great acidity. More so than 82. Tasting the 83 make me want to try the 1990 again so bad. — 7 years ago

1982 La Chapelle. Was brought by a Chapelle collector on a Tuesday afternoon. It was in a cooler and chilled to about 48 degrees. We decanted it and at first seemed light but as it warmed up in our glasses stronger notes of tobacco and spearmint and cherry came through. As it warmed more, it became more interesting and complete. It was even a bit floral. We tasted it along side the 83. I love all Chapelle and this was a treat to try the 82. — 7 years ago

For a $15 cab, it’s very well made. The fruit is big and has a Shiraz like jammy aroma but the flavor is more mature on the palate with dark plum and cherry tobacco notes. It’s not too hot and seems balanced very well. — 7 years ago

Cheers to the Mattabella 2005 Old World Blend bottled at Jamesport Vineyards (cork). Beautiful aroma of dried cherry. On the palate it's a bit light with very few tannins left. What's left in tannin is overpowered a bit by alcohol and quickly fading finish. I just love seeing how LI wines evolve but I wish I tried this a few years ago. — 8 years ago

Napa Cab... starting to flatten out as acidity has disappeared a little. A little pasty and hot due to lack of balance. — 8 years ago
