A pop of sour cherries and almost a hint of smoke early on. Exciting on the tip of the tongue but then a little brash/unpolitical shed at the end of the sip. Not a mind-blower but definitely easy to keep going back for crisp + tart sips throughout the night. — 8 years ago
Intoxicating nose of a very high end Napa Cab. Plenty of legs left to it but still very smooth going down. Heavy but delicious. Super ripe assorted berries and almost evolving to a black raspberry. A sip disappears quickly on the tongue - leaving you reaching for the glass before you know it. — 8 years ago
Good but unfortunately didn’t wow me the way I hoped? I was looking for a complex mix of the selling descriptors i.e. Rosemary, lavender etc. I got some red fruits but it seemed loose not as tight knit or cohesive as I hoped. Maybe opened too soon (2013 in 2018 NYE)? Have a bottle left - we’ll see about that one in a bit. — 6 years ago
Really like this guy - sour/tart cherries with just a bit of funk/little bit of leather on the back pallet. Exciting drinking during the week. Love the value! — 8 years ago
Love this wine!!! Going back for more for sure. Red berries yes but it's the very well developed smoke/leather/funk I love from the older wine. This was a fun/exciting wine experience. — 8 years ago

Having seen it over and over through the years, had to try it. Yes I admit it, the label and the price point make me want to love it. I like it but I feel like I've had smoother/silkier Brunellos - might need time yes but it's just a tad rough around the edges. Red berry fruit, nice aroma, deep/complex flavor. — 8 years ago
This wine really grew on me. There is no denying Dave Phinney wines are an experience. They are heavy, deep and the taste-flavors go on for ever! This one dark, deep, brooding black and blue fruit with a bit of bite. Decant, be in the mood, sit back and enjoy. — 8 years ago

Really enjoying this. Opened very tight - dark dark cherries up front with a hint of caramel on the back end. Now that it’s opened - loving the infamous “fist in a velvet glove” taste - high high end good production feel all the way. — 6 years ago
