Ive never had a Kerner before so I have no point of reference but this wine was striking. My initial impression was hard to describe at first, there is a sharpness to the nose that is reminiscent of smelling CO2 off of a rapid fermentation. It reminded me almost of the sensation of smelling ammonia. Once that fades I'm left with a raspberry smell. As the wine warms it goes into white peaches and kiwi fruit. The acidity is on par with perhaps lower end Riesling but the outright dryness is reminiscent of quality Sancerre. It left me really happy. I don't know why this wine seems such a bastard but I quite like it. — 8 years ago
I think is a fantastic example of the style. You get the dark raisiny character of amarone with the youth and fleety underripe to ripe fruits consistent with Valpolicella. — 9 years ago
Fancy Italy. I love Sangiovese in this format. It's so giving with dried strawberries and sun dried tomato. Italian herbs. Potting soil. Tasty — 9 years ago
Showing very nicely at the end of its 5th year. Super soft tannin and plenty of blackberry and plum to make this wine really seem as though it's peaking or about to. Enjoying with grilled green onions and beef strip steak. — 8 years ago
Enjoyed this chilled. Unfiltered and cloudy in the glass. It kinda makes me think of Asian fruits or smoothies and durian but in a good way. Nice acidity and a lime juice-like citrus character. Sort of Grapefruity. I can't quite wrap my head around this wine at the moment but I rather enjoy it! — 8 years ago
