Always so dependable. Sumptuous layers or orchard fruit, lemon, flint and ginger with a powdered sugar finish. Bright acidity, mouth filling texture and a long finish. — 3 years ago
Still a good amount of fruit and life left, though on the decline for sure. Surprisingly good, given not a noteworthy vintage. Mature flavors. Savory, herbaceous and earthy. Now Spring Mountain vineyards (Falcon Crest). One of a few “birth year wines” I’ve had and enjoyed. — 3 years ago
Baller Vio. This, while ridiculously expensive, does push the limits of this varietal. Anyone who enjoys the world’s finest white wines should seek this out and treat yourself! — 4 years ago
Deep and complex with delineated layers of Boysenberries, tart cranberry and Luxardo cherry with hints of sarsaparilla and Darjeeling tea. Rare Auction lot bottling. — 3 years ago
Modern sure, but varietal correct and delightful. Cherry, plum, raspberry, dried roses, tobacco, truffle. Yum! — 3 years ago
Starting to develop tertiary flavors, becoming more savory, wild. Boysenberry, strawberry, cranberry, blood orange, mushroom, black tea, sarsaparilla. — 3 years ago
Rochioli Cellar Master’s private label. Bright, yet deep. Classic RRV without going overboard. Cherry, raspberry, cranberry sauce, cola and tea notes. Textbook and tasty! — 3 years ago
What a treat to taste, even so young. Not on my dime, so thrilled for a splash. This will be epic in time, but very tight now. Still plenty of pure orchard fruits, a plethora of apples, pears, peaches and apricot. Complex mid palette with a core of minerals, highlighted by bright floral notes. When you consider the rarity, the undeniable elite winemaking and the price these bottles fetch, it boggles the brain. Wow. — 3 years ago
Starting to emerge from its shell, this is still tight and needs decanting, but with air and time is very delicious. Cranberry, raspberry, dried roses, olive tapenade, currant, tobacco, graphite, clove, nutmeg. More to come. I’ll save my remaining bottles for another couple years. Better 2024+ is my best guess. — 3 years ago
