Oak monster — 5 years ago
Fresh cut rubber hose, white flowers, and canned peach on the nose. On the palate the first attack was rounded soft mineral water. Then it came with dark raisins, sweet but not too much. By dark I mean it feels a little caramelized. Finally some powerful acidity and heat showed up, but the acidity got smoothed out quickly. Mineral finish with touches of sweetness. — 6 years ago
Way too young to drink. Superb white flowers, lemon/lime, and hint of orange on the nose. Palate is not super sweet, more towards the mineral side. Has the signature feather-like sweetness but less so compared to the 06 ws goldkapsel JJ Prums. Acidity is not very pronounced, but well balanced. I know this producer can do better. The rating is only to position it among its peers. Still a great dessert Riesling, in general. — 5 years ago
A little too dry — 5 years ago
Sweeter than regular kabinetts. Balanced and refreshing. — 5 years ago
Already peaking. Quite dark as a Barbaresco. Plum, ink, black currant, creamed violet on the nose. Concentrated tobacco and red fruit on the palate. Enough acidity, dry yet supple, fine tannins. Mouth watering minerality, long tobacco finish followed by dark fruits. Extreme value at $29. — 6 years ago
Got directly from their library cellar. Strong pear and honey nose. 34.5% rs by weight. Mouth coating sweetness balanced by mature acidity. Very pure fruity wine on the palate, yet still have crashed stone-like minerality. Beautiful treat. — 5 years ago
Dark, plummy, hints of cream and dark cocoa. Supple, medium to low acidity, yet tannic. Good effort. — 6 years ago

On the nose you get intense honey dew, white flower, and ripe pear. On the palate, this bottle of nectar has honey-like viscosity, yet totally transparent. Pristine sweetness fully integrated with the racy acidity. Full bodied and perfectly balanced. Layers and layers of sweetness were released like waves. Maybe a bit more minerality can make it a 10. But this is a representative expression of the Josef vineyard. What more can I ask for? It’s hard to believe a dessert Riesling can be this good. Better than the 09 Nobel select, also better than the JJ Prum WS Gold Kap 06 in all dimensions. — 4 years ago
