Sagrantino from Swan Hill, Australia. Dark garnet colour. Generous nose of spices, black fruit and a little lavender. Palate rich and full, blackberry and blueberry, savoury salty mineral notes and grippy tannins, finishing long with chocolate and smoke. Not as ripe as the 12 but a lovely wine. Drinking well now after 9 years. — 5 years ago

Truly superb single vineyard Sagrantino. Dark red, massive structure and elegance. Floral, layers of plums, blackberries, cinnamon; huge yet silky chocolate tannins and a beautiful very long finish. Was very stern when opened, much improved over a 4 hour decant, with food. Patience! Will keep forever, or for another 10+ years at least. — 5 years ago
