A monster of a wine! — 11 years ago
I have a hard time believing this wine was wine of the year. You either decant it for an hour and a half or hold on to it for a couple of more years but i dont think it will help. It has no structure, no balance. I would have named Alto Moncayo 2009 Wine of the Year 2013. — 11 years ago
This was a vertical of 38 vintages to celebrate Joseph Phelps Insignia 40th anniversary! I Will later copy paste my review of this wine and an overview of each decade. — 12 years ago

"Beautiful aromas of roasted coffee beans, wild cherries, black licorice, toasty wood, hint of cocoa and vanilla. On the palate, powerful yet elegant bodied, infused with spice, black fruits, firm tannins, long, spicy finish."
