funky almost to a fault. at first sniff, i almost thought it might have been corked. however, it develops into something really quite special. the longer i sit with it, the more i want.

8.8

color : ruby
aroma: red licorice, fruit leather, oak
flavor: spiced chocolate, maraschino cherry, vanilla. the finish is where this wine really exhibits some interesting character, however. notes of mole and after a while into a strange but not unwelcome cheesey quality which lingers.

aroma: medium-plus
acidity: medium
body: medium-plus
tannin: medium

haven’t had a big, jammy california cab in many years. enough complexity going on here to make it a relatively fun drink. immensely quaffable. good to go to things you don’t always go to!

WINE

color: ruby
aroma: black current, licorice, dark fruit leather
flavor: green blueberry, raspberry, black pepper, fruited cider

aroma: medium plus
acidity: H I G H
body: medium light
tannin: medium

the nose is really, really nice with all kinds of fruity funk. but, wow. the acidity on this is ripping. almost metallic. the palate is so incredibly sour, fresh, vibrant with a soft wood/cidery undertone. the finish really balances the wine out with notes of wild strawberry and rhubarb. what a wild bottle. what a fantastic wine.
