Fruity and straightforward with a delicious bright finish. Better than expected. — 2 months ago
Don’t brush off Merlot‘s. Especially if those Merlot’s are from Yountville, in Napa Valley. The climate in Yountville is particularly well-suited for grape growing. It sits in a sweet spot where it receives warm, sunny days perfect for ripening grapes, while cool evening breezes and fog from San Pablo Bay help too.
Let this wine open up and breathe for 2+ hours and you’ll be delighted with a similar complexity to a Cabernet, with Oakey notes and bright raspberry and plum flavors
An excellent choice from the same area as Stag Leap vineyards

The Rutherford Hill Napa Merlot (2021) reveals a deep ruby core with subtle garnet reflections, suggesting youthful vibrancy with potential for short-term development. The nose is precise and layered, offering blackberry and raspberry fruit interwoven with cedar nuances, indicative of measured oak influence.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with light acidity that enlivens the fruit profile while maintaining balance.
Tannins are fine-grained and unobtrusive, supporting a bright structural framework that lends clarity and poise.
The finish is clean and persistent, marked by freshness rather than weight, making this a versatile companion to dishes such as roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or semi-hard cheeses. — 17 days ago
Consistently excellent Bordeaux-style red blend
(Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc)
Fruit forward cherry, plum, blackberry, with a nice oakey finish

This non-year vintage Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is decent but lacks the complexity and tannins that I’m used to.
Flavors of dark fruits, including cherry, blackberry and plums, are present, but this red lacks the mineral, oakey flavor.
disappointing for the price point — 2 months ago
Decent Syrah. Deep pleasant aromas in the glass. A bit tart for my taste but still drinks well. — 17 days ago
Wine Spectator rated the ‘21 with an impressive 93 points and this Merlot was featured as #25 on the Top 100 wines of 2024.
flavor notes include blackberry, dark, cherry cedar, and that earthy Napa finish
I recommend this read to anyone who can find the 2021 vintage. Perhaps other years too. — 2 months ago
