Big Amarone (16%) bursting with blackberry jam, blueberry compote, amarena cherry, with fragrant violets on the nose. A touch of damp earth with forest mushrooms, nutmeg, marjoram. Seemingly endless finish, very nice acidity. For Amarone lovers, this is a gem. — 9 years ago

Quintarelli was a master, and this was one of his last creations -- a Cab Franc done in an Amarone style. This is a treat -- Violets, blue fruit, cooked blackberry jam, stewed figs, overripe Concord grapes on a hot summer day, damp earth. Acidity is medium, and tannins are still quite assertive.
