A well aged Cabernet Sauvignon is superb .. and this was a perfect example. Dusky, almost smoky and silky smooth. The tannins so well rounded it seems to form a ball of liquid gold across the palate. Simply bloody awesome!! — 5 months ago
From vines grown in the killing yards of the original heathcote arbitrator comes this beautifully rich and deep aged Shiraz. An absolutely bloody bewdy! Mint, berries and age all conspire to deliver this lovely drop that rolls across the palate like gold.
If you’ve been lucky enough to secure some of this and have it at the bottom of your cellar, now us the time! — 9 months ago
Beautifully soft and subtle. This caressed the palate as it gently rolled across the tongue. There are soft notes of mint and blueberries with a slightly smoky over taste. Lovely!! — a month ago
Beautiful aged Shiraz .. paired with a calzone rustico. Smoky mint and earthy dark berries. — 3 months ago
Sadly the last of the 2006 vintage left in the cellar. 18 years down its drinking better than ever with the old Shiraz notes seeping through peppers and mint. Just bloody lovely! — 7 months ago
Disappointing to be honest. There is a tartness to the palate that, while not unpleasant, takes away from the experience ADDENDUM: I had this over 3 nights and by the third night it had mellowed substantially. Perhaps it just needs a good 10-12 hours in a decanter before serving — a year ago
After introducing itself by punching you in the nose, it follows up with a Liverpool kiss. This wine is huge, and needed 48 hours to properly mellow. It packs a punch with alc/vol exceeding 9%, and was almost undrinkable on night one. By night 3 the sheer violence it threatened had softened from a ferocious roar, to the low level grumble of a big V8 engine. Give this one time and space and the rewards are well worth it — 3 months ago
What a find buried in the cellar … sadly it wasn’t my cellar we were rifling through. Neveretheles this is a ripper from the Coonawarra. Smooth, almost velvety with all the Coonawarra depth that would be expected overlying peppermint and dark berries. Certainly worthy of a Magarey medal !! — 7 months ago
The small joys you find at the back of the cupboard. Superb .. vanilla, mint and berries wrapped in a super smooth coat. Nothing short of bloody good! — a year ago

A salient reminder to check the back of the cellar! OK but missed the peak. Lots of aged notes, cigar box etc, but the depth is missing, remains quaffable, and was certainly not at all unpleasant. — 21 days ago
