This was a fun wine to bring to the party. My girlfriends are really loving roses lately and with sparkling wine being a classic past time favorite, the ladies shrilled when I walked in with a bubbly rose. Mumm Napa's brut rose is made from pinot noir and chardonnay grapes in the traditional Champagne method (aka Method Traditionale) being the most tedious way of making sparkling. This method of making sparkling also attributes to the best way to get the loveliest bubble streams in your glass, so definitely look for that in your sparkling selections. Back to the wine, this brut rose pours out an enticing pink color with berry undertones. It offers dusty floral aromas on the nose. On the palate, you'll feel soft, medium-sized sparkling beads dancing on your tongue with flavors of ripe strawberries, black cherries, and a touch of creaminess . This is a full-bodied bubbly with gentle red fruit notes, from the pinot noir grapes, and a slightly dry, crisp finish, from the chardonnay grapes. It's a yummy and festive sipper. Instant smiles, instant celebration. It livens the mood, guaranteed. — 8 years ago
This wine's greatest appeal is its' mouth feel (the viscosity of the wine, the texture). Its' silky smooth texture plays with flavors of blueberries, stewed boysenberries, and warm oak. This wine starts off very seductive but finishes off "hot," as my husband put it. And, not in a good way. The alcohol content was pervasive in the finish. We gave it an hour to open up with hopes that the alcohol heat would burn off and soften the finish. The good news is it did, but unfortunately the flavors that were singing in the opening scene were a dull lullaby when revisited an hour later. Regardless, this wine is superior to table wine. — 8 years ago

Brancott's "Flight Song" Sauvignon Blanc was an enticing wine to try. Why? You might ask. Well, this wine boasts to have a low alcohol content and 20% less calories than other sauvignon blancs. I'm a new mom, with a three month old that is still nursing, so these attributes were inviting. I brought this wine to a friend's BBQ that included two other moms. I thought it would be fun to share this discovery and try it blindly with my friends. When I highlighted the wine to my two girlfriend-moms, telling them that this low-calorie, low-alcohol wine offers just 88 calories a glass and a low 9% abv, I peaked their interest. The ladies looked at me in unison with bright eyes and enthusiastically requested I open the wine for us all to try. "Let's see what this pretty little bottle has to offer," I responded with a smirk. Standing under a palapa poolside, I set up four glasses be enjoyed. Before I pour, let me just say that I love that this bottle has a screw cap. We all know that it makes for easy access and an easy start to beginning the festivities. Back to the wine, I unscrew the cap and pour the light-straw colored sauvignon blanc with a hint of green into our Riedel white wine glasses. The sight of these glasses ready to sip were appealing to the eyes on a warm, sunny day, especially with the sound of the custom waterfall pouring down on the pool in the background. I picked up each glass and offered it to the other two mothers plus another girlfriend, who joined the tasting curious about the wine also. We cheers our glasses and proceed to taste and smell the wine. The nose of the wine comes right out of glass. Hello, grapefruit, lemon, green apple, and the smell of freshly chopped jalapeños. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with more grapefruit, honeydew melon, and lime notes. The acidity is racy and the finish is lightly tart, definitely inviting you for another sip as your mouth gently waters. We all looked at each other with pleased looks on our faces, "yum." This wine is delicious and refreshing. I was afraid the wine would come across as too sweet with the lower alcohol content, but it does not. It isn't as razor sharp as a traditional Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, but it doesn't fall too short. And, with a whopping 4% lower alcohol content and 20% less calories, this wine is a winner, especially for this mom who is still nursing and who still wants to enjoy a refreshing glass (or two ;) of wine with friends on a sunny day near a sparkling blue pool of water. I'm sure some of you other mothers catch-my-drift and can relate. Where can I get my hands on another bottle for the next BBQ? I'm seeing it as sold out online. Mom.Juice, can you help us out here? — 7 years ago
