Mild and sweet, just how I like it!! — 10 years ago
A very pleasant wine from Georgia 🇬🇪.
Deep purple colour with lots of dark fruit, notably cherry on the nose with some oak.
A little tannin that's nicely balanced against a hint of sweetness that follows the plums and blackberry.
Overall, it was a lovely wine from a winery in Kvareli close to the river Alazani.

Pirosmani semi-dry white wine produced from the Rkatsiteli grape variety grown on Alazani valley in Kakheti region in Georgia. The wine has a harmoniously velvety sweetness of fruits with a slight butter taste. My score 89/100. — 11 years ago

Tamada – Kindzmarauli 2023 (Semi-Sweet Red)
Duruji Valley, Kakheti – Georgia 🇬🇪
Overview
Made from 100% Saperavi, this semi-sweet red is a hallmark of the Kindzmarauli PDO, located in Georgia’s Kakheti region. Naturally semi-sweet wines like this are produced by stopping fermentation early, leaving residual sugar while retaining Saperavi’s intense fruit character. (Educational note: Kindzmarauli wines are protected by Georgian appellation law, recognized internationally for their semi-sweet style.)
Aromas & Flavors
Rich and fruit-forward, with notes of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum jam. Hints of pomegranate, violet, and a touch of cocoa give extra layers of sweetness and depth.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with velvety tannins, lush sweetness, and balancing acidity that keeps the wine from feeling heavy. Smooth and round, with a lingering, fruit-driven finish.
Food Pairings
Pairs beautifully with spicy lamb kebabs, Georgian walnut-based dishes, or blue cheeses. Also a great match for dark chocolate desserts or enjoyed on its own as a festive, easy-drinking red.
Verdict
A classic Kindzmarauli: rich, semi-sweet, and deliciously approachable. The 2023 vintage captures Saperavi’s dark fruit intensity while offering balance and charm, making it both a crowd-pleaser and a cultural staple. 🍷cheers!
