A welcome addition to our wine tasting at our 2025 Christmas party! Very big and bold. Well, structured and smooth.! — 6 months ago

Henriot

Millésime Brut Champagne Blend 2008

A very complete nose of brioche, citrus and apple pie. In the mouth air is needed to really give this a chance to strut its stuff. Prominent but not overwhelming acid at first but an hour of air makes this as round as a beach ball. The palate starts to duplicate the nose with an hour or so of time. Another positive ‘08 champagne ,with upside from here. — 6 years ago

Two Paddocks

The Last Chance Pinot Noir 2016

Tagged “Proprietor’s Reserve,” the wine is entirely from the small Last Chance vineyard and is a numbered bottle. Mine was Number 48. Pale garnet; pronounced intensity aromas of black cherry, fresh herbs, violets, High acidity, low velvety tannin, sour cherry, violet, very clean lingering finish. outstanding quality. Will improve with further age but delicious now. A stunning wine. — 6 years ago

The Calling Wines

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Recently went to tasting featuring bunch of “TheCalling” Wines. Tasted this ‘14 Pinot 2yrs ago-developed nicely. Sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine guru Peter Deutsch met by chance at CT restaurant, each having dinner w/friends. Jim had a passion for wine and was exploring the next step when Peter stopped by the table, that meeting started a collaboration. Ruby with berry fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate cherry with vanilla oak and pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cacao & oak notes. — 7 years ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2005

Wish I had a chance to get more of this, with less surrounding bottles and in a better state of sobriety. Lots of that garrigue, smoked bbq and all spice thing. — 7 years ago

Joe's Cool Red Turbo Charged will have you singing Joe's "All the Things" in no time flat. This wine is a perfect sweet wine with a nicely "Charged" ABV at 18%. Like I said you will be serenading your next door neighbor off of this one.

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

1986 vintage, Above average fill. Excellent cork with bottom quarter fully saturated. Decanted with respectable sed. Dark cherry skins color. Tasted after 15 mins. Light-medium body. Nose the usual aged/faintly cigar box intro. Flavors melded together nicely but ever so slightly tart. Delicate, long finish. Thinking the tartness would buff out after 45 minutes open but no chance to prove that theorem. 6.1.24. — 2 years ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

In its prime. I didn’t decant for fear of shocking it, and that was the right move. Pop it now if you have it because it’s a beauty from stem to stern. The nose pours out of the bottle with all kinds of flavors and expressions- pencil lead being a primary- but as it had a chance to breath and express itself it blossomed. Lush yet powerful, naturally as it’s blend would indicate it reminded me of some of what I like so much about Bordeaux. — 7 years ago

Château Malescot St. Exupéry

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

9.0

This is the bottle I opened but not the wine I’ve had! Totally faked or doctored.

I’ve had enough of this wine and comparable Bordeaux’s to know this was not right.

Probably an over the hill (2000-2004) Australian or California Cabernet that is over oak’d, fruit forward, from a mediocre producer. Outside chance it’s a Spanish Priorat.

Wine actually wasn’t bad, but not as advertised!!

Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

Second time I’ve had Cantemerle, this time the 2004. I think this was a great choice and I found this one a bit more refined and mature than the 05 which is probably a few years from fully settling down. This one has plenty of cassis, vanilla and wood on the nose. The palate is smooth with a medium finish that is very nicely balanced. I would describe this as a masculine wine, with leather, tobacco and ash blending with the fruit, it is not floral or overly delicate. Probably approaching it’s peak but visually no real significant signs of ageing. Worth a try if you have the chance. — 6 years ago

Whitcraft Winery

Pence Ranch Pinot Noir 2016

Bright and acidic red fruits up with very unexpected old world flavors in the secondary palate. I took a chance and only purchased 2 bottles last year, I wish I bought more! Highly recommend, a great counterpoint to typical US Pinots. — 7 years ago

Réserve Vieilles Vignes Côte Roannaise Gamay 2016

This is as exciting, energetic, and pure as wine gets for me. Cracked black peppercorn and read current stream from the glass while sage and thyme smolder in the background. I hope you get a chance to experience this gem — 7 years ago

Hall Wines

Kathryn Hall Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Every now and then A wine that I love comes around with butter and spice and everything nice and this is it! Kathryn by Hall winery 2014 Napa Cab sauv. The bouquet is spicy and oaky! Lots of black licorice. The color of coarse is very dark. You can see the thickness before giving the legs a chance to run. The initial pallet is blackberry blueberry boysenberry deliciousness. The spice hits immediately on the tongue. Oak cigar and other earthtones bring up the rear. The finish leaves your mouth coated in butter As it slips down the throat. It is not overly dry at all. I don’t need water, I just need another sip. Pure perfection as far as my palate is concerned!!!!!! — 8 years ago
