Decanted one hour:
Tobacco, leather, meatiness on the nose. This is a man's wine! Alcohol is strong in the final notes. 16%!!!
A drunken pool of blackberry and boysenberry liquor fills the palate, with white pepperiness and an astringent finish.
A slow sipper that draws you to embibe faster than advised. 0 to drunk in 20 minutes if you're not careful! — 6 years ago
Blackberry jam and lingering campfire incense nose. Pie. Pie. Blackberry Pie. Crusty and crumbly and baked to perfection. Berries burst upon lips' touch. Dessert in a glass, but by no means sweet. Highly astringent, succinctly slicing that pie on the finish.
Decanted briefly, but may certainly be decently liberally with gusto! — 6 years ago
Popping the cork, the cork gives off dried eucalyptus from Michael's crafts.
Undecanted: Brandied cherry nose, with a plummy eucalyptus, almost mineralic yet cough syrupy climax. Tart cherry essence on the palate.
Decanted: Almost ripened cherry nose, with licorice undertones. Tart cherry with light body and balanced acidity. An enjoyable and embracable wine to be enjoyed prior to serving or with tapas. — 6 years ago
Great dessert wine. Chocolate and light — 5 years ago
Chocolate and leather envelope mounds of leafy cherry compote across the nose. Dark and earthy yet fruity enough without crossing the line of sweet. Earthy spiced inky berries emerge as the bottle breathes. A bigger bolder version of a Northern Rhône’s production. — 6 years ago
I dare you to smell this and tell me you don't wish you had a fat juicy slice of boysenberry pie in front of you. This big boy packs and delivers. No wimpy wine here. Big, bold, in-your-face acidic, iron-fisted dark fruit. Not the fruity jammy zin of northern Cali. This is Italy on steroids. — 6 years ago
Decanted for an hour. Softens out the bell peppery earthy edges and smoothly integrates them into the berry flavors. A nice take on a Bordeaux style bottle, especially given the heated Temecula climate. Drank on Italian night, served with spicy pasta pancetta followed by a plate of fresh red raspberries and fromage: fontina, Asiago, provolone and Parmesan. The fruit and berries were perfect accompaniments.
Juicy earthy raspberries emerge centerstage on the palate as the wine opens. A spicy finish with cinnamon, date and clove evolves as well.
I now smell intense milk chocolate-covered raspberries and red apple skin. Two hours in, paired fresh raspberries are received like gifted desserts in pairing with cognac-hinted notes in the cedar-box berried wine. Loving this more and more with aeration—-love!
This wine continues to evolve and delight enjoy across the entire evening, as with every wine produced from this vintner. Phenomenal for the pricepoint. — 6 years ago

Cranberries and baking spice - smells like home for the holidays. Lively and youthful bright red fruit. Like spiced cranapple pie with cinnamon clove crumble on top without the brown sugar. Fruitful and tart without being sweet at all. Comfort food tapas pairer. — 5 years ago
