Tualatin Estate Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2019

So, crazy thing happened. I’m in Corvallis for work flying home tomorrow am and got done way early. Driving up to PDX and there are wineries on the way! Is this Serendipity? 😀🍷 I’m a Willamette Pinot newbie. This was my favorite of the bunch. Overall they feel like more green, acidic, structured, and tart than Sonoma / Burgundy. Am I in the neighborhood or way too limited for the generalizations? — 2 years ago

Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2013

First time trying the reserve - great sautéed mushroom component with herbs and cranberry on the nose.. Round body that becomes even rounder with time, maraschino cherry, and brightly acidic cranberry dominate the palate, giving it this weird plush but vibrant kind of thing. Only drawback would be the alcohol.. Wish it was more restrained. — 10 years ago

2 Towns Ciderhouse

8th Anniversary Specialty Cider Release

Made in Corvallis Oregon. Contains a blend of four American and English apple varieties- Roxbury Russet, Ashmead’s Kernel, D’arcy Spice and Northern Spy - slowly fermented with white wine yeast. 6.9% ABV. Very pale yellow white, not much head on pour, pinpoint bubbles that quickly fade, very slight haziness. Beautifully rich perfumed nose. Crisp, long slightly malic finish, spiced aftertaste, carbonation spritz throughout. Almost dry. Well made, special stuff, intriguing structure. It’s definitely worth trying though I’m not sure I’d want to drink it regularly (meaning it’s not a good candidate to become a session cider for me, even if it were regularly available). Some core astringency on finish as well. Must be the acid-tannin-spiciness combo that I’m struggling with; some will love it, but... — 6 years ago

A refreshing Chardonnay from Puglia, Italy. Zesty and refreshing with all the tropical and citrusy notes. Not a hint of butter or oak. Currently sipping with Fettuccine Chicken Marsala at Pastini Pastaria in Corvallis, OR. — 9 years ago

Wine for the totality in Corvallis. Beautiful bretty nose, waves of brioche, pastry, pear and Gravenstein apple in the mouth, fine carbonation. A lovely expression of Willamette Valley sparkling wine. — 7 years ago

Les Côtes de l'Ouest Syrah 2011

At the end of a week in a big empty house in Corvallis, this really transports me back to Davis. Black currant dominates, but just underneath I get sage, lavender, eucalyptus and that olivey funk that I love so much from high-altitude Cal Syrah. Home wine. — 9 years ago
