Black fruit spicy licorice v dry excellent vintage — 5 years ago
Possible at first taste to confuse for a medium-high quality Burgundy. Some nice fresh apple notes, some honeysuckle, and purely delicious. I think this wine might not travel well; we drank and purchased this bottle at the winery. It's really good. — 7 years ago
El Jardin de la emperatriz rioja Alta Crianza 2018 Crianza- blend of Tempranillo, garnacha, maturana Tinta, graciano. Dark ruby. Maturano is dark like the cat. Hard to give a read on this, given its wine companions for the night. Seems like it’s at its peak and the tannins were medium through the two hours we drank from it. Wasn’t decanted, would love to be tasting it again today to see what was left. — 5 years ago
What you get for the extra $10 (and 250ml less) from Emperatriz Eugenia is massive compared to the entry Don Nuno (both Oloroso). Depth, complexity, something to think about.
Mahogany caramel colored with aromas of sandalwood and sweet dates. Winey sweet palette of dried figs, golden raisins, and burnt toffee. — 6 years ago

100% Viura from 50-60 years old vines from a historic estate in Baños de Rioja which once belonged to Eugenia de Montijo, Napoleon III’s wife (hence its name). Since 2017 it has been recognized as Viñedo Singular (Rioja’s equivalent to grand cru). Fermented in concrete (50%) and oak barrels (50%). Aged in oak for 10 months followed by another 10 months in concrete. Delicate nose with aromas of beeswax, chamomile, fennel and floral notes. Citrus flavors (lemon), chamomile. Quite fresh. Long finish — 4 years ago
