Recommended by Ian Cauble, SommSelect for a 30-60 min decant. Spot on. — 6 years ago
“Structurally, it is wonderfully firm and focused, with polished tannins that frame the ripe, dark-hued fruit” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect — 6 years ago
Recommended to “decant for 45 minutes” by Ian Cauble and once again, nailed it! — 7 years ago
Outstanding. Decant for 60 minutes. “...dark cherry and currant fruit...This is an absolutely superb expression of Nebbiolo.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect — 8 years ago
How is this possible at $24. Well, if you inherit the land you reduce cost. This is even better that the 2012 Vintage I had in 2016. “This is masterfully crafted white burgundy sourced from naturally farmed 70-year-old vines”- Ian Cauble SommSelect. — 8 years ago
The quality for price is outstanding. In 1936 “Caillou’s owner had no desire to join the governing ranks of anything, let alone a wine appellation. This brazen act excluded the estate from the AOC and essentially carved out a chunk of Châteauneuf-du-Pape‘s border. Today it continues to be an ‘unclassified’ section in what is otherwise some of the most prized vineyard land in the area“-Ian Cauble, master sommelier — 5 years ago
Superb. Ian Cauble calls this his “desert island” rosé. — 6 years ago
“Chenin Blanc at its textured and mineral best” - Ian Cauble — 6 years ago
Serve between 50-55 degrees. Terrific value. Paid $28. “Loads of ripe citrus, soaring white and yellow florality, with creamy hazelnut, yeast ones, and blanched almonds” - Ian Cauble — 6 years ago
“There is so much wine packed into this $34 bottle it must be tasted to be believed- except that when you taste it, you can’t believe it! The cacophony of aromas, the richness of texture, the profundity of the minerality… Everything about it is extraordinary.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect. Serve at 50° — 8 years ago
Organic. “ This bone dry, intensely mineral, fresh-fruited beauty is already considered one of Rheingau’s best — and it’s still impressively affordable.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect. $32 — 8 years ago
Terrific 2015 at less than $60. Wow, “There is also a deep mineral component here-notes of crushed gravel and potting soil-that offers a counterpoint to the abundant fruit.” - Ian Cauble, Master Sommelier SommSelect — 5 years ago
Outstanding. “When I say this is a more “classic” expression, it’s because the resulting wine is bold but fine, structured more on the scale of a Barbaresco or Chambolle-Musigny. In other words-true old school Chateauneuf.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect — 6 years ago
17 yrs old “and is still buzzing with youthful energy.” - Ian Cauble — 6 years ago
“The medium plus bodied palate is rich, ripe and rounded, but most impressive here is the level of freshness…” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect. At $29 it was a true value. — 7 years ago
“Batrta’s Oreg Kiray Dulo is a frontrunner for Hungary’s finest grape-growing site. This is dry Furmint like you’ve never experienced-it has more texture, pure fruit, and mineral verve than many of the world’s greatest whites.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect. He nails it once again. Paid $35 — 7 years ago
“Good things come to those who wait“. I bought this wine in 2015 from SommSelect. Ian Cauble recommended to wait 3 to 4 years. Terrific advice! Marvelous and only $35. — 8 years ago
Pop the cork 1 hr. ahead of time. At $38 in 2017, this was a terrific value. Dried cherry, berries, “silky mouthfeel” - Ian Cauble SommSelect. Perfect with roast chicken. — 8 years ago
J Levenson
“Ripe and savory aromas are in perfect harmony, with notes of dried plum, Cassis and preserved raspberry, elevated by leather, cedar, tobacco, a hint of meat and wet clay.”-“for those of you who are accustomed to paying three figures for a fine Bordeaux, this wine will charm you for under $40 a bottle“- Ian Cauble Master Sommelier — 3 years ago
