Paul Chapelle
Gravières Santenay 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Pop the cork 1 hr. ahead of time. At $38 in 2017, this was a terrific value. Dried cherry, berries, “silky mouthfeel” - Ian Cauble SommSelect. Perfect with roast chicken.

Mar 31st, 2018Cherry, pomegranate, grapefruit pith, nose like a watermelon rind in freshly created mud. Silken texture but a little one note given producer/maturity. Could probably still go a while improving

Feb 18th, 2018Awesome wine. Cranberry, orange peel, rocky nose loaded with dark spices of clove. Low tannins and great acidity made it a very elegant pairing with beef bourguignon. I could have cellared the wine, but sometimes you gotta say"treat yourself".

Jan 29th, 2018A bit underwhelmed given the hype from somm select. Yes it has age and yes it’s from a burgundy appellation with lots of value but this just didn’t do it. Lacked earth, silky-ness, and generally was pretty flat and one note. Have two more bottles - maybe this was slightly off?
