Montiano

Falesco

Cotarella Montiano Merlot 2018

A delicious, surprisingly savoury & structured Merlot from Lazio.
Dark plums, some blackberry & dark cherry character, but also an earthy, savoury underscore with some rocky notes, mocha, hints of roast.
Elegant & restrained on the palate with a good frame of polished tannins and juicy acidity. Very nice definition here and good substance.
Blind - a really good St. Emilion.
Sadly, priced equally high.

A bit cloudy and medium garnet red. Layered nose with dried cherries, bark, and earthy. Medium tannins (5/10) and medium body. Ripe cherries on the palate, a little earthy, vegetal and herbs. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2020. — 6 years ago

@Greg Ballington great to see a note from this vintage. I never felt this wine would go the distance.
