A Vintus Selection Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2013

Had this in a restaurant! Founded in 1902 with a vineyard farmed by Giacomo's grandfather, located in Pedemonte village in NW part of Verona, now run by 4th generation of Tommasi family. A blend of 50% Corvina Veronese, 15% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella & 5% Oseleta. Aromas of dried fruits with savory spice notes. On the palate sweet plum and sweet cherry flavors with pepper & cacao. Soft tannins, chewy on lingering finish ending with an oak character. Nice! — 6 years ago

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Tommasi Viticoltori is a family viticultural company founded in 1902 and located in Pedemonte village in the heart of Valpolicella Classico region. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon from a single-vineyard site called Rompicollo, which benefits from a Southern exposure. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruit. The palate shows cherry and blackberry with sweet herb spice, slight notes of raisins on soft tannins. The finish is medium with an earthy mineral taste. Tremendous value. Drinking super well at this point. I've enjoyed several vintages of Pedemonte's cab, which has been perhaps the best QPR cab in Napa. It appears they haven't made their cab since the '08, however. Too bad. — 10 years ago
