Easy to drink not a lot of effervescent light flavor. Rudy and Patty brought over as housewarming. Reserve bottle — 6 years ago

Very approachable. Evolution of this bottle was over a 4 hour decant. First taste at opening, was tight dense gorgeous fruit, cassis, cigar, stone, and crisp Howell air. Second taste an hour later was bigger, bold, strong ruby fruit, less cigar but tobacco was still there. The fruit became longer on the finish and the density was so sexy. Taste like how you encounter sexiness tasting. Rudy, Tom, Michael and Red Cap Fam doing it really really well! — 8 years ago

Rudy red, light cherry mix between Pinot and cab. Great with pizza! — 6 years ago
Dark Rudy color with brown edges. Smells wonderful. Taste is less fruity then the nose would suggest. It’s woody with a slight oak on the finish. — 6 years ago
Light brown hue with a cherry red core. Raisened cherry and prune on the nose with a hint of minerality and plum. Mushroom note on the nose adds complexity and makes every return to the glass new. On the palate loads of bready plum and cherry with an ethereal mineral backbone that lightens this full bodied wine to go down smoother than the weight would suggest. Complex and smooth almost in the same wheelhouse as a rudy port but more complex and dry. — 7 years ago
Beautifully done by Rudy. 2014, his inaugural vintage! I ordered 4. This is the 3rd. Gonna lay one down for a long long time — 8 years ago
Exceptional Cab compared it to the 2014 blue rock and the 2013 WH Smith. It won. This is the next step up from Rudy Cab which is made by the Strasser family as well. Not sure I would pay almost 160% if the blue Rick price though. — 8 years ago
I opened this bottle of the 1971 Taurasi Riserva with a Durand and, to be honest, I don’t know how the cork could have been extracted, intact without it. The cork was fully saturated and super gnarly looking. I poured a small taste to check color and see what was happening on the nose. It came across a little lethargic and funky so I poured the bottle into a ship’s decanter, careful to manage the sediment, and allowed it to stretch its legs for about four hours prior to dinner. The process of decanting filled the room with a wonderful perfume; this was a good sign! It turns out, it needed all of that air because it transformed into quite the darling.
In the glass, the 1971 showed remarkable color for being over half a century old. It presents a rudy, garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of desiccated cherries, Balsamico, dried leaf tobacco, leather, Mexican birria, and volcanic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins (all integrated) and medium+ acid which is keeping this very much alive. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and has a saline finish. This bottle ended up being a very lovely experience and a fine compliment to a simple dinner of filets prepared in cast-iron and some spaghetti carbonara that I made with some pancetta made by my brother-in-law. After looking at the label a little closer, I realized that this was back when Taurasi had only achieved DOC status. In fact, they had only just received that status the year before in 1970! Taurasi has since been awarded DOCG (1993). Drink now and enjoy! — 2 years ago
Very nice. New varietal for me. I like the light Rudy color. The nose matched what I saw in the glass bright, round and juicy. On the pallet I got bright red fruit but it was pack with a bit more structure and weight than I expected. I can see drinking more of this. — 6 years ago

Bright Rudy leaning toward translucent garnet in the glass. Outstanding fruit purity and transparency at year 10. Strawberry, sour cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, and blood orange sprinkled with rose petals, dried porcini and licorice. Elegant medium body. Mellow dusty tannins leads to a long juicy finish with aromatic lift.
A very pretty Barolo. — a year ago
