Limited Edition Old Vine Carignan 2019

Shiran Winery Limited Edition Old Vine Carignan 2019, Israel

#kosherwineSunday

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.

Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing currants, plums, cooked cherries, light oak, licorice, spices, tobacco leaf, chocolates, light black tea, vanilla, black coffee, peppercorn and light earth.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Carignan from Israel. Nicely balanced and good right out of the bottle. Fruit forward and elegant.

A good quality wine, and good by itself as a sipping wine.

I had it less than a year ago, and it is drinking much nicer now. Will continue to age nicely in the next few years.

100% Carignan grapes. A tiny production of only two barrels. Aged for 12 months in Hungarian Oak barrels. Kosher and not Mevushal.

14% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Dark purple in color with a wide purplish rim.

Fruity on the nose with blueberries, dark cherries, black plums, oak, spices, licorice, light alcohol, cloves, herbs, chocolates, tobacco and light metals.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with plums, blueberries, light oak, licorice, dark chocolates, earth, vegetables, bitter herbs, spices and tobacco leaf.

Tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice and interesting Carignan from Israel.

Still young with nice potential to be even better in 5 years, but already showing nice complexity.

Tangy with a nice mouthfeel. Easy drinking and a good food wine.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself. Gets earthier as it opens up (30 minutes)

I paired it with dried meats, crackers and fresh blueberries.

100% Carignan grapes were grown in the Judean Hills region. Aged for 12 months in Hungarian oak barrels. Only 600 bottles were produced. This is bottle number 565. Kosher and not Mevushal.

Dry White Sémillon 2019

Bright with well balanced acidity; this Israeli wine has notes of citrus and pear, with underlying richness from four months of aging on spent yeast. Would pair well with grilled fish, cucumber mint salad, or savory blintzes. — 4 years ago
