Excellent bouquet of dark fruit, dump earth. Good complexity and structure with fine tannins, and good aging potential. Lovely wine. — 5 years ago
15 year old bottle. Hallelujah, I am a believer. The acidic structure long said to be legendary, amongst Aglianico has truly proven itself. Charred wood, pumice, volcanic rock comes through on the nose seriously..
. Bloody bandaid and home maid soy sauce as well....after the oxidative musk blows off, it reveals a florid Gardenia quality on the nose. I've had a few Aglianico expressions before, but never one so old as this... tomato leaf, dried cherry on the palate with so much acidic life on the finish. Incredible. — 7 years ago
Must try more. Young but interesting layers of spice and a touch of green phenolics a la green cab sauv. Fruit, good depth with the spice (and almost smokiness?) and pleasant acid but a shortish finish. A grape to seek out. — 3 years ago
50% palagrello nero and 50% casavecchia. This wine dates from before the split of the 2 associates who started this estate (Peppe Mancini founding Terre del Principe). Magnum 2001 vintage. — 6 years ago

This is not a blend, but 100% Casavecchia. Upon opening, the volcanic smokiness is immediately fragrant, and slightly perfumed. Dark berries, tannins, and minerals woven together. Delicious winter red!🍷 Also 👍 the very graphic designy label ...
Had the rest of the bottle with broiled salmon, cashew olive vinaigrette, wild mushrooms and polenta. It became veeeery mellow on day 2. Even better! — 5 years ago
Old school rustic Italian, quite dark fruited, salty. Medium body. Very tannic on the back end, very structured wine. Substantial acid. Needs a couple hours of air to come together and show properly. Pair with 🍝 for a pretty pretty good time. // turns into something special on day 2 — 7 years ago
