Deep ruby-purple in appearance. An alluring nose of ripe red cherry, crushed raspberry, and red currant, followed up by dark plum, sweet tobacco, espresso bean, and cedar pencil. The palate is full-bodied, lush, and mouth-filling, held together by supple, medium tannins (6/10) and bright, red-fruited acidity. Layers of cherry, red plum, dark chocolate, and subtle vanilla oak are woven together with graphite and loamy earth. The finish is long, smooth, and persistent, marked by a generous texture, lifted red fruit, and lingering spice. Drink till 2038. — 6 days ago
I may he breaking some unwritten rule for opening a 2012 now, but even this nascent, it is excellent. Earthy and yet fruity. A backbone that should carry it for many years to come. Yet another reason to hope for a large lottery winning so you could drink this everyday. — 11 years ago
