Stunning.
This is not my bag by a long shot but credit given when credit is due. — 6 years ago
Had it April 2010.
Concentrated ruby with purple edge.
Red and violet flowers (wisteria), sour cherry, ink, leather, iodine, black olives, tobacco.
Taste: blood orange, marine, eucalyptus bark, velvety and full, after taste of chestnut and balsamic. Excellent tannin. Savoury, irony, intense, maybe it is a little weak in the centre of the mouth. Long anyway.
Very interesting, still young.
Vineyard sold in 2003 to Tappanappa(Croser/Lynch Bages), now called whalebone vineyard I believe.
Wrattonbully is situated just north of Coonawarra.

Beautiful color and smell with a simple clean flavor that ends slightly sharp and tart. Great for sipping while cooking, and versatile to match with lots of food. — 4 years ago
You just can’t go wrong with Whalebone: this red blend is vibrant in color and robust in flavor: fruity and tangy without being too sweet. Holds up against a variety of foods. — 6 years ago
Great red blend. — 9 years ago
Great Cab Sauv. Served it slightly chilled on a warm evening. PS the owner of this winery is awesome. Very cool guy — 9 years ago
Warm vintage, soft ripe fruit. Presents as young but very approachable with soft tannins, with liquorice and dark fruit prominent and tannins sitting in the background. An intriguing contrast to the Man O’ War blend alongside it. Very easy to enjoy but perhaps some element missing at this stage. — 4 years ago
Great Fruity Full Body Zin — 6 years ago
Kept this for a couple of years and had it Sept 2015. It's has improved developing a good age profile is was tasty. Varietal true. Starting to get some plum, slight raisin, currants. Pleasantly surprised and wish I had more. Happy with the patience of holding onto to it and looking forward to picking up some 12s and 13s to do the same if can get them in the $20's. — 9 years ago
