Cocktail Series: Leap Year

We’re sure you already knew this, but 2020 is a Leap Year! February 29th is just around the corner and since we only get to see this elusive day once every four years, we think it’s only right to celebrate it with the official Leap Year Cocktail. Originally shared by Harry Craddock in the Savoy Cocktail Book published in 1930, this crisp and refreshing cocktail claims, “It is said to have been responsible for more proposals than any other cocktail that has ever been mixed.” While we’re not exactly sure about the research behind that statement, it certainly makes for a great backstory. All you’ll need to make this cocktail is a dash of lemon juice, 2/3 gin, 1/6 Grand Marnier, and 1/6 Italian Vermouth. Shake well, garnish with a lemon peel, and serve chilled.
