Giovanni Chiappini

Felciaino Bolgheri Rosso Sangiovese Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2015 Bolgeri Rosso Felciaino is a very pretty entry-level offering from Chiappini. Sweet tobacco, spice, leather and dark-fleshed fruit give this pliant Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend much of its personality. Another six months or so should help the tannins soften. Tenuta Sette Ponti

Orma Bolgheri IGT SuperTuscan Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.6

The 2015 Orma is fabulous. Pliant and resonant in the glass, the 2015 is a total pleasure bomb. Mocha, espresso, raspberry jam, rose petal, mint and cedar all race out of the glass in this stunningly beautiful, gracious wine from Orma. All the elements simply fall into place effortlessly. A closing flourish of aromatic intensity punctuates the finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

Marchesi Mazzei

Tirreno Maremma Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2015 Tirreno, Mazzei's Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, is another striking wine endowed with plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Dark cherry, mocha, blackberry, chocolate and espresso all flesh out in this open-knit, highly appealing wine from the Tuscan coast. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

Gaja

Ca' Marcanda Magari Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2015 Magari is terrific. Bold and sumptuous in the glass, the 2015 speaks with a real sense of authority. Succulent black cherry, plum, chocolate and spice are all front and center in this radiant, yet mid-weight wine. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2015 has quite a bit of tannin that needs a few years in bottle to resolve. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

Batzella

TÂM Bolgheri Superiore Red Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2015 Tâm emerges from the estate's best vineyards, those located on the southern reaches of the estate. Bright floral notes play off the ripe fruit beautifully in this sumptuous Bolgheri red. Lavender, sage, plum, and blueberry jam add aromatic nuance throughout. The 2015 was aged in equal parts cask and barrel. The larger-format casks seems to add a good bit of freshness. Montepeloso

Eneo Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2015 Eneo is a dark, powerful wine. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, chocolate, sage smoke and licorice add to the wine's brooding personality. The natural richness of the vintage has resulted in an unusually potent, masculine Eneo that plays off textural and flavor intensity, despite its mid-weight frame. Time in the glass brings out the wine's mid-palate pliancy and an extra kick of freshness that lifts the fruit beautifully. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

Rocca di Frassinello

Le Sughere Maremma Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2015 Le Sughere di Frassinello is terrific. Scents of sweet pipe tobacco, mint, leather, rose petal and exotic spice give the 2015 much of its immediate allure. Super-ripe and racy on the palate, with silky tannins and gorgeous, supple fruit, the 2015 is hugely appealing. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

9.6

Tua Rita's 2015 Syrah Per Sempre offers notable textural richness and depth, with a thread of whole cluster aromatic nuance that is woven throughout a core of intense dark fruit. Tenuta San Guido

Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2015

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2015 Guidalberto is a delicious, mid-priced red from Tenuta San Guido. Here, too the style is quite restrained for a wine that in the past has played more on textural richness and volume. At times, Guidalberto was richer and more voluptuous in style than Sassicaia, but the 2015 is done in a style that is more similar to that of its big brother. It remains to be seen if that is a true stylistic shift or simply a reflection of the 2015 vintage. In any event, the 2015 is very pretty. Sweet Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics, pliant red-toned fruit and mid-weight structure are the signatures. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 6 years ago

Villa Patrizia

Albatraia Tuscany Ciliegiolo 2015

Delectable Wine
9.1

Villa Patrizia's 2015 Albatraia is bold, ample and creamy, with a level of pure flamboyance and darkness that is not especially typical of Ciliegiolo. Even so, all the elements are very nicely balanced. The dark cherry and plum fruit speaks with an intriguing combination of power and voluptuousness.
