Shimmering salmon skin. Powerful cherry, raspberry, pit fruit and lavender aromas, along with blood orange and succulent herb flourishes. Stains the palate with mineral-accented red berry, bitter cherry, white peach, orange pith and floral pastille flavors that show sharp delineation and spicy lift. In a powerful style, but it comes off lithe and precise. Shows powerful thrust on an impressively long, mineral-tinged finish that echoes the peach and blood orange notes. The 2020 Etna Rosato lifts up wonderfully fresh and perfumed, offering notes of sweet peach and white smoke backed by honeyed florals and wedges of candied lime. It’s silky-smooth and round yet spry, washing nuances of ripe pear and nectarine across a core of saturating saline-minerality. There’s simply so much going on here for a Rosato as the 2020 punches well above its class, finishing incredibly long yet juicy, and fizzling out to hints of sour citrus and cheek-puckering green apple. The 2020 Rosato Chiar'Otto is a much deeper and darker red than you’d expect from a Chiaretto Rosato. This impresses with an intense bouquet of wild strawberries, stone dust and rosy florals. It’s soft in texture with medium-bodied weight and a pleasantly sweet display of red berries and inner herbal tones. A vivid echo of cherry pits lingers, along with residual acids that keep the expression juicy, almost salty and refreshing. This captivating blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Sangiovese is sure to win a lot of hearts. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)
