While I don’t think anyone needs an excuse to open a great bottle of sparkling wine, the reality is that more bottles in this category will be sold in the next three weeks than at any other time during the year.” --Eric Guido, Sparkling Wines from Italy for Every Occasion, December 2023 1. Sorelle Bronca

Brut Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore

Delectable Wine
8.9

The NV Brut Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore opens with a sweetly scented bouquet of crushed apples, chamomile and spice. It’s soothingly round with a savory white pit fruits and sour citrus blend. This tapers off squeaky clean while leaving a mineral tinge that punctuates the experience nicely. (Lot# L3.265) (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2023)

Tenuta Villa Crespia NumeroZero Dosaggio Zero Franciacorta Chardonnay

Delectable Wine
9.2

A basket of orchard fruits comes together with perfumed floral tones and savory spice as the NV Muratori Franciacorta Numero Zero blossoms in the glass. This washes across the palate with a chiseled bead of saline-tinged bubbles, giving way to crisp green apples. It finishes squeaky clean with a citrus tinge, leaving the palate perfectly reset for another sip. Disgorged: 2022. (Lot# 2023048) (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2023)

The NV Extra Dry Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore wafts up with a perfumed blend of freshly sliced nectarines and lime zest. This opens with a pretty inner sweetness complicated by a mix of zesty acidity and mineral-tinged orchard fruits. It finishes clean, yet a bit short. A candied citrus hint gradually fades. Ferrari

Brut Trento Chardonnay

Delectable Wine
9.1

Distinctly savory, the NV Brut Trentodoc opens with a blend of dusty dried flowers, cardamom and freshly sliced pears. It fills the palate with a silken bead of fine bubbles, taking on a salty-to-sweet sensation as tactile mineral tones mix with ripe orchard fruits. This finishes with admirable length and candied citrus twang, tapering off remarkably fresh. I love the balance and complexity here, especially for a Non-vintage Brut. Disgorged: 2023. Aziende Agricole Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo

Brut Metodo Classico Rosé Blend 2021

Delectable Wine
9.1

Crushed rocks, curry leaves and mint give way to dried strawberries as the 2021 Brut Rosé Metodo Classico slowly blossoms in the glass. Silky and enveloping, it quickly gains contrast through a saturation of salty minerals as nectarine notes swirl throughout. The 2021 leaves a salty flourish to linger, finishing with medium length and a green apple crunch. I love the complexity within this truly engaging Nerello Mascalese sparkler. It’s silky smooth, verging on creamy, with masses of ripe peach and minty herbs within. This finishes with a cascade of tropical citrus and florals, leaving the mouth watering for more.
