The 2018 Chianti Classico is absolutely gorgeous. Black cherry, tobacco, spice and leather bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Bold and dramatic in the glass, with striking depth as well as translucency, the 2018 is a winner. I loved it. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
Fontalloro is exquisite in 2017. It is also such a contrast to the Rancia, as the two wines could not possibly be more different. Fontalloro is bright and vibrant, with more sweet red Sangiovese character than the darker Rancia. It is also incredibly delicious now, even though it clearly has the energy to age for many years. The 2017 is one of the finest Fontalloros I can remember tasting. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is wonderfully fleshy and expressive, and yet has plenty of structural underpinnings. Dark cherry, plum, spice, menthol, licorice and mocha open up with a bit of air. The balance of fruit depth allied to a mid-weight sense of structure is just compelling. Readers will find a potent, bruising Riserva with tons of character. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
The 2017 Oreno is an attractive, expressive wine done in a style that is all about richness. Black cherry, mocha, expresso, licorice and sweet French oak infuse the 2017 with notable depth. In 2017, Oreno is not quite as sumptuous as it can be, but it certainly has plenty of its trademark exuberance. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
The 2016 Geremia is a total knock-out. An exotic mélange of sweet dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, spice and menthol races out of the glass. The 2016 is deep, dense and full of character. It is also easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon work so well here in the way they express richness and structure, all with a real sense of Tuscan raw power. The 2018 Chianti Classico Ama shows just how promising the vintage is. A burst of sweet red cherry fruit, cedar, leather, spice and orange peel give the 2018 a feeling of exuberance that is impossible to miss. The purity of the flavors is just striking. This is such a beautiful wine. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
The 2012 Vin San Giusto is incredibly refined. There is plenty of the richness that readers have come to expect from the Vin San Giusto, but at the same time, the 2012 is wonderfully precise and nuanced. Spicecake, tobacco, cedar and mint give the 2012 lovely aromatic complexity that gives the wine a remarkable sense of lightness for such a rich sweet wine. In a word: superb. The 2016 Flaccianello della Pieve is a truly special, moving wine. There's not much more to say. The 2016 was epic when I tasted it last year. It is every bit as memorable today. Beautifully layered, the 2016 possesses remarkable finesse and power. All of the natural intensity of Panzano's Conca d'Oro comes through in a wine that dazzles from start to finish. As always, Flaccianello showcases the darker side of Sangiovese. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
The 2018 Chianti Classico is an absolutely joyous wine. Bright red cherry fruit, tangy acids and sweet floral notes all run a translucent, super-expressive Chianti Classico that quite frankly knocks it out of the park. The 2018 is so delineated, so vibrant and just so incredibly delicious. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. The oak needs a bit of time to fully integrate, but it already has over the last few months. This is what Sangiovese (called Sangioveto here) and Chianti Classico are all about. Best of all, the 2018 is a screaming value. Don't miss it. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020) — 4 years ago
