Clos de la Tech 2009 Domaine Valeta Pinot Noir (SRP $62): Grown on a 2,300 foot ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this nicely focused Pinot Noir boasts ripe black cherry and red plum flavors alongside an appealing floral character and savory overtones of earth and light spice. It is full-bodied and well-balanced with a solid core of ripe tannins that melt into a long, pleasing finish. This is a good cellar candidate, but it is hard not to enjoy it now. Ca' Marcanda 2015 Promis (SRP $48): This is a deliciously satisfying wine. Composed of 55% Merlot, 35% Syrah and 10% Sangiovese, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, showing notes of tart red berries accented by brambles and juicy black plums, all wrapped in a savory, mineral-tinged bow. The flavors express depth and energy with fine-grained tannins and considerable brightness throughout. This wine is enjoyable now and will mature beautifully for years to come. It has a lovely line of acidity and is well-balanced with good structure and fresh fruit character. #CaMarcanda #GajaWine #Bolgheri #wine #winestudio #myvinespot #WineWednesday #FindThisWine — 7 years ago
Glorie Farm Winery 2014 Cabernet Franc (SRP $19): Here’s a delicious Cabernet Franc from New York’s Hudson River region. It is lean and supple, offering a vibrant mix of tart cherry, black raspberry, dried flowers, and wild herb flavors; all made complete by a nice lift of fresh acidity. Plenty enjoyable on its own, this wine makes for a versatile dinner companion, too. #nywine #wine #CabFrancDay #CabernetFranc #wineblogger #wineconsumer #winelover #FindThisWine — 8 years ago
@FieldsFamWines Fields Family Wines 2016 Grenache Blanc (SRP $24): Grenache Blanc is a variety that’s widely planted in Spain and France. I haven’t seen it planted in large numbers anywhere else. Yet it grows surprisingly well in the Alta Mesa sub-appellation of Lodi, California, based on what’s in my glass. Sourced from Delu Vineyards, this appealingly aromatic wine leads with vibrant tree fruit flavors followed by notes of tea leaf, fresh rose petal, and cut apple. Medium-bodied and nicely textured, beautifully integrated acidity provides good energy and lift—building a brightness that extends through the medium-long, pleasing finish. A reliable producer year after year—winemaker and social media rock-star Ryan Sherman delivers the goods. Meeker Vineyard 2013 Winemakers' Handprint Merlot (SRP $45): Consumers who buy with their eyes -- and many do, would grab the Handprint Merlot in a jiffy. It is eye-catching and attractive; one of the most gorgeous bottles I’ve ever seen. And even better, the juice inside the bottle is delicious. Deep ruby-purple in color, and nearly opaque, this wine offers a poised combination of muscle, intensity, and depth. Concentrated flavors of black cherry and purple stone fruit are followed by red licorice, espresso, vanilla bean, and brown spices. A rich extracted style, chewy tannins give way to a long, fruit-driven finish. Though bursting at the seams, the acidity is firm enough to hold everything together. A very appealing Merlot that even old Miles would adore! To learn more, visit their website at meekerwine.com.

Markus Wine Co. 2015 ‘Zeitlos’ Syrah (SRP $39): This is an absolutely delicious Syrah. Sourced from Lodi, California’s Borra Vineyards, there are additions of 12% Carignane, 8% Petite Sirah, and 4% Viognier. I’m fond of this wine for its vividness, framework, depth, and freshness. Inviting black and blue skinned fruit aromas, join dark cherry, violets, and a mix of earth tones, black pepper and baking spices on the palate. It is full-bodied with fine yet firm tannins, and balanced acidity, ending with a long, lingering finish. Swiss-born winemaker Markus Niggli is among a number of boutique producers crafting high-quality wines from Lodi-grown fruit that are turning heads across the country. All of Markus Wine Co. wines are beautifully packaged. The striking label art, by Karina Michaels, represents the sacrifice for quality—the zeitlos (ageless and memorable) you’ll find in this bottle of wine. Drink now or hold, just visit markuswine.com and get some. Cheers, my friends! #Lodi #LodiWine #cawine #Syrah #wine #winelover #wineblogger #winewriter #myvinespot #FindThisWine — 6 years ago
