90% Pinot Noir, the rest Chardonnay so this drinks like a Burgundy with bubbles. One of the more interesting Rose Champagnes out there as it is very vinous in character. The color is a deep pink with a copper tint. The nose is mineral laced red berries, orange citrus and a hint of savory and herbal notes . The palate is deeply textured with a thicker presence from the bubbles and what feels and tastes like a high dosage for a Brut. On the palate I get strawberry, raspberry and crushed rocks, with a hint of stem from maybe the Pinot having some stem or whole cluster? An interesting interplay is the sea salt tang and barely there sweetness from the dosage. Aged in oak for 10 months in used large oak casks, then 24 months in bottle before disgorgement. Would love to know grams dosage and disgorgement date but it is lacking on the back of this bottle. #vilmart — 9 years ago
