My first VP, reminded me of Krug MV with a denser texture. The VP stands for Vieillisement Prolonge, meaning prolonged aging on lees in bottle. In most cases this is 6-7 years of aging on the lees. Intense gold color and a fine mousse. The nose is rich and deep with honey, caramel apples, toasted brioche and roasted nuts. The palate is rich and full bodied, a bitter almond and crazy laser beam of acidity slices right through the density to bring the palate freshness. Time in bottle should round this out nicely, it's a beast! Typically about 70% Pinoit Noir and 30% Chardonnay this was disgordged in July 2012. #eglyouriet#VP#grandcru — 9 years ago
