Achával-Ferrer
Mendoza Malbec
Dark purple in color with a purple rim.
Great nose of blackberries, black currants, vegetables, earth, bell pepper, wood, light vanilla, leather, red candy, spices and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, vanilla, wood, vegetables, earth, celery, bell pepper, beef jerky peppercorn, spices, herbs and pencil lead.
Medium finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a nice Malbec from Mendoza. Showing nice complexity and a nice mouthfeel. Could use 3 to 5 years in the bottle to mature. Still very earthy with lots of green notes.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly, which I did not have unfortunately, but it is still enjoyable by itself. A good food wine to accompany a big piece of steak. 100% Malbec grapes.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$20.

Deep ruby with pronounced aromas of blackberry, plum, and mocha.
Medium acidity and ripe tannins. Full bodied with blackberry, clove, plum and black cherry with a subtle bit of oak showing on the finish. Very good.

This is a good example of a very drinkable everyday Cab from the Mendoza region. Steaks, Burgers as well as Pasta would compliment this wine Fantastic value!

Aug 21st, 2019Recommended to me by the salesperson at Crown Wines and Liquors in Indianapolis. Upon opening, very light and raspberry, just as they said. More like a Pinot Noir. After a day, the spices really start to open up. Beautiful.
Imported by Stoli Group USA, New York City.

Medium bodied, minimum acidity, blackberries, clove, plum, dark cherry, good Malbec. Great for red meat.
