Mendoza Malbec
Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina

An entry level Argentinian Malbec to be sure, but it still delivers for the price. A fresh & herbal nose of red plum, blackberry, raspberry leaf. Medium bodied palate, with a bit of bracing acidity alongside blackberry, raspberry and hits of smoke & tar on the finish. Paired well with balsamic roasted pork chops & roasted zucchini! ($7) [8/30/21]

Deep red hues, dark, with a prominent nose of pepper, rose, and raspberry. Graphite and velvet on the dry finish which is surprisingly lingering. Great entry level Malbec and incredible value.

Thin and slightly bitter. I’m assuming the high altitudes are what make it so thin. Nothing really sticks out to me as special…probably wouldn’t buy again.

Color of purple, nice legs. Nose of strength of alcohol, vanilla, tobacco leaves, strawberry jam, and more powerful spicy alcohol. Taste of good acidity, spice, sweet grapes, vanilla, zest, peppery, and a bit minty. Aftertaste of some hints of soft tannins and mineral, and some more ripe grapes. On par.

Mar 16th, 20212019 is not my fave! Will definitely go out and find more bottles of 2018 for my stash. '19 is very juicy and sweet, more like a California cab than an Argentina malbec! Still a quality wine though.
