My first smaragd gruner! A complex and rich wine, this was full of ripe bitter melon, peach, lemon, and a savoriness that was a little nebulous at first but is almost perfectly described as fresh cut radish--it wasn't quite a dead ringer for white pepper but had its spiciness. Structurally this had a tiny bit of residual sugar, a full body, plenty of phenolic bitterness, and high but integrated alcohol that was all balanced save for the moderate (maybe more) acid I wanted more of. I need to try more of this because I haven't quite acquired a taste for bitter melon in my wine, but it grew on me over just half an hour. Blind tasted with @Rajiv Ayyangar.
