Amici Cellars
Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Not overly impressed. Poor approach and lacking much structure, didn't live up to its ruby color and rustic nose

1 person found it helpfulOct 12th, 20132010 was a great year for AMICI. I just got lucky in finding this one hidden away amungst the 12's! Very dark purple, and showing more tertiary aromas than fruit, such as sandalwood, clove, and leather, encompassing a jammy berry note. The pallet exhibited notes of nutmeg, stewed blackberries and plums, cocoa, red currant, gravel dust, and a very gripping finish from its "Rutherford like" tannins.
This one was a blend of their Spring Mountain single vineyard, their Rutherford single vineyard "Moresoli", and other Napa Valley fruit, so the wine itself, in comparison with having tried the other two, shows both the power and concentration of Spring Mountain, and the richness and structure of Rutherford; it's the offspring of two very different places!
I think this one had much more time to rest, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Pretty good. Opened nicely, but not as complex as I expected.
