Who put the oak, oak, oak in my Barbera? Not only is this ripe, concentrated and extracted, it's overwhelmed by the new barrique. Might as well be Napa merlot or Rioja from a hot year. But, if that's your thing...

A lovely single grape Barbera d'Alba, aged 12-15 years in oak barrels and drunk after 3-5 years (we had the '11): round, well balanced, lovely palate of black cherry and black currant. Really loved this one, merci Simon "Marco Polo Fine Wines" Thun!

Very nice and balanced wine. Some lactic acidity and light spices. Evolves in the glass nicely.
