Outstanding tour of perhaps Italy's longest continuously operating winery. Fantastic history, scenery, and vini/viticulture plus I've always loved the Ricasoli wines. This is their basic CC...beautiful juice of pure cherry fruit, some violet fragrance and tobacco. Nothing overly deep/complex, but a superb table wine and entirely worth the 18€ price tag.

Dec 6th, 2016I am in Florence for work, great city, but for a wine whore like me I had to get out of town to check out the wine country. So here I am, having this wine at Gallo Nero restaurant somewhere in Chianti. 'Somewhere' because I don't know where I am... It was about 7 pm and dark, and I got tired of working in my hotel room, so I asked the receptionist for a restaurant away from Florence. After a 50 minute ride in the dark, here I am in Greve in Chianti. Back to the wine, it has everything you expect from a Chianti red... Length, spicy black pepper notes, nice soft and lingering tannins. Ordered some pasta which apparently is made fresh everyday by the 84 year old grandma... Hmmm, I want to meet this grandma!
