Cuvée Karatas Sémillon - Sauvignon Blanc Blend
Almost grabbed this bottle a few times from the cellar over the last few years, wish I would have. This was the second of 2 bottles I bought in 2016 or 2017. Remembered thinking the first bottle was too young. This was not too young, it’s probably about time to drink it if you’ve got one. Golden yellow, a bit of oxidation, a bit of oak. Not quite the wine I remembered.

Apr 17th, 2020Tropical fruit, waxy, but still enough acid to feel crisp. Hides 14.1% very well

Mar 24th, 2018WOW. From the oldest semillon vines in the US. Aromas of hazelnuts, vanilla, baking spice, baked peaches, and apricots. Flavors of orange marmalade and white flowers. A little fat marries nicely with balanced oak. Gets more complex as it warms. Concentration frames a stellar homage to white Bordeaux. Need to drink more from this talented winemaker.
