Field blend from a 100-plus year old vineyard in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley AVA. Roughly 50% Zinfandel, 25% Carignane and 25% Petite Sirah (with trace amounts of Alicante Bouschet, Valdigue and Cinsault). Dark ruby, slightly orange at the rim. Intense nose with jammy black fruit, cocoa and spices. Big, powerful taste with layers of black fruit, a big round tannic strucure, deep spices and an impressive long finish with retronasal jammy fruit and spices. Excellent. Well worth the money. 2009 vintage. Abv 14,5% , 35 euro.

Nov 1st, 2016When the wine is built to age, when to open can be a challenge. 09 vintage, on opening still oaky & raisiny, meh. Day 3 singing, a thing of beauty! Firm tannins, darkness & a touch of smoke. Ahhh!
