Best's
LSV Shiraz Viognier
This is right in the zone. Lovely mix of vibrant blue and black fruited youth and savoury pepper and spice. So supple fine and long and super gluggable. Great, elegant and fine, western Victorian Shiraz. Delicious. 🍷🍷👍🏽👍🏽

Apr 18th, 2023Everyone complains about winter, however personally I love it. As long as I have plenty of red wine and my Ugg boots that is 😉
It’s been rather chilly here in Gippsland lately, so I was looking to crack into something delicious and warming. Thankfully a lovely sample had arrived from Best’s Wines (thank you!!) which definitely warmed me up.
Best’s Wines are located in the Great Western region of Victoria. This Shiraz is inspired by the great Shiraz wines of the Northern Rhone Valley in France. The Shiraz grapes come from the best elevated vineyards in the region and there is also a small amount of Viognier in the wine (2%). The Viognier helps to ‘brighten the colour, lift the aromatics and polish the Shiraz flavours on the palate’.
You can find it available for purchase via the Best’s Wines website for $35. The wine wine soften and flavours become more complex over the next 15 years.
So what did we think of it? Here are our notes:
It’s a deep red-mauve colour in the glass and it’s wonderfully aromatic. Think sweet black cherries, earthy mushrooms and nutmeg spice. While in the mouth it’s fruit-driven with currants sprinkled with white pepper coming through. It has a lovely delicate tannin structure and yes it totally warmed us up after a few glasses!
This wine was sent to me direct from the winery as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
