La Serenne Yakima Valley Syrah

Luscious.

I didn't realize how new world this was until tasting after St. Cosme's Hominis Fides. Almost a chocolate milkshake compared to Cosme. That said, it's still quite balanced, with lots of intensity and a lengthy finish.

Distinctively more old world than my recent favorite from K Vintners - both wines are from the Boushey Vineyard. Dark fruit, peppered game, loam, and a hint of creamy root beer.

2010 La Serenne Syrah
Beautiful sooty/sweet tannins with a delicate mineral balance.

Starts out with black & red fruit on the nose with a sultry smoky aromatic note. Darker berries on the palate with a deeep earthy/savory mid palate. Tannins are resolved, but this still shows good acidic balance. This was a cold vintage, and this has aged beautifully.

Opens beautifully with some sappy blue fruit & savory gamey notes. The nose remains youthful and powerful. Plenty of acidic structure intact here & tannins are silky offering beautiful texture. A very cool vintage, but a wine showing plenty of life ahead. Stellar.

Excellent Syrah. Crystal clear ruby color. Med bodied with a delicate finish.
