Black Ankle Vineyards
Leaf-Stone Syrah
Aging beautifully! Still loads of currant and lavender. Add a touch of iodine and some more black fruit, mix with lean tannins and fine acidity. Here is to Maryland wines!

Aug 11th, 2018Third red from Black Ankle and first Syrah. Bright ruby red. Love the nose, slight iron and savory notes. Slightly stinky and almost a note of compost. Palate had some slight greenery and savory notes. Undertones of red fruits too. Moderate tannins (7/10) with some nice acidity. Moderate body and long, lingering finish. Will gain some nice complexity with time. Drink till 2025.

Nov 6th, 2015Lean tannins, red and black currants, dark fruits, violets, and a note that one can only find in a Black Ankle Syrah. This is a world-class Syrah that beautifully reflects its sense of place. Maryland can certainly show terroir well!
