Bodega Altolandon
Old Vine Bobal
What a treat - fairly obscure Spanish varietal - seems like every time I’ve had a wine from Manchuela it’s been excellent. Very dark garnet color with really expressive, exuberant nose of wild herbs, black & blue fruit, underbrush, some medicinal, spice, smoke, earthy, some legit funk and it really evolved aromatically. On the palate it was med bodied w/great density of flavor without over-extraction. Nice interplay of acidity & tannins. Just juicy enough w/big time sour cherries and dusty spice flavors. Has that savage quality of Norton grape. Finish was decent verging on the rustic.
