Older vintages of Pesquera can be particularly lovely, as such this toothsome 2012 Crianza is drinking well now, but will certainly reward patience. Oozing complexity, with dark fruit notes of roasted black cherries, singed earth, dried violets, black licorice, alfalfa hay and dark chocolate. Fleshy and round on entry, with fine, powdery tannins that sit firmly at the back palate. Dark chocolate, dark roast espresso and herbal notes reemerge at the finish.

Deep dark fruit dominant, followed by chocolate, coffee, baking spices. Easy to be confused with Chateauneuf du Pape. It is still young.

A stumper. Need to taste more Ribera. Showed savory like Syrah. Clearly old world, with big extract.

Fruit is still asleep. Great tannin acid balance. Will age well

Raw, immature, purple fruit that presents a harsh nose and palate and forces unintegrated American oak on you in a hostile manner. I have had many much older Pesquera that were far superior to this. I couldn't drink it and lament the change.

Dark red, earthy bouquet, earthy after taste. More chemical than wine.

This vineyard is next door to Spain's most famous vineyard, Vega Sicilia. Fabulous wine and great value.
