Bodegas Alto Moncayo
Veraton Garnacha
A joint venture of Jorge Ordonez, Bodegas Borsao and others, in conjunction with Chris Ringland. Dark Ruby with dark berry fruit aromas, from 40+ year old vines and aged for 16 months in oak. On the palate flavors of ripe plum and black fruits with cacao, spice and smoky notes. Soft tannins, vivid acidity ending with gentle oak spice on the long finish. Wines from Spain are superb and at great values, especially Bodegas Alto Moncayo wines.

Apr 25th, 2020Bergamot, cranberries, lavender, subtle earl grey tea.
Wow. Perfect balance. Hits all of my favorite taste profile notes.
Uppercut punch to the jawline with the welcome acidity, tart blueberry jam pie, and even some spice notes that I can’t really pinpoint.
I just know this would pair exceptionally well with some bake lamb. When a wine makes you crave a specific food, they did something right. And also I just went for an 8 mile run and I’m hungry.
This wine just makes me happy. And it’s kind of hard to explain why. And that only happens about 1/10 bottles.

An easy go to Grenache. Great producer and solid QPR.

Mar 29th, 2019Very smooth with dark fruit flavor Soft tannins. Would likely improve and open with some decanting Grenache from Spain - my first but will be looking for this wine again
